When Frid dies does that put an end to the DS festival and other
related activities? He was and is the mega star from that series
eventhough he is very old. The chance to see or hear anything about
him is a treat. When he dies no more treats. Just curious as to how
that will affect the feelings towards the show and the festival type
activities.

no, because there are fests where he does not even appear, and they do
just fine. Now at the point we lose JF, KLS and LP, then I'd say the
fests might be done with. Til then, they'll keep going.

I would point out Trek cons continue even though Jimmy Doohan,
Gene Roddenberry, Deforest Kelley, Najel Roddenberry have died.

Star Trek is different. It has a life of its own including many spin
offs. Not a one star show. One person made DS. The general public
can name only one person from that show. DS fans of course can name
the entire cast but generally one person is it.

I guess the cons will still go on. Hopefully a new movie or TV show
will revive interest in the storyline.

While I have been proudly and unwaveringly "Team Barnabas" since I was a
young girl, I would have to disagree that DS was a one-star show. It had
an extremely strong ensemble cast along with Jonathan - Louis, Joan,
KLS, Grayson, Lara, Karlen, Thayer, Selby - and the show would have been
much poorer without them.

Was Barnabas the "star" of the show? Undoubtedly. But it was his
relationships with the other characters that made him and the show as
rich and fascinating as they were. What would Barnabas be without his
complex history with Angelique? Josette? Joshua, Naomi and Sarah?
Quentin? Willie? The modern day Collins clan - Roger, Liz, Carolyn,
David? I can't begin to fathom DS without Barnabas, but I couldn't
imagine it without these other beloved characters, either.

That's true, but then again, it isn't the general public that normally
goes to the Fests, it's the diehard DS fans, who, as you mentioned, are
familiar with more than just Barnabas, and "vote" with their ticket
purchases as to whether or not to support the events enough to keep them
going.

I attended two of the Fests. One with Jonathan, the other with David
Selby as the "headliner." Being a Barnabas girl, it was admittedly the
thrill of a lifetime to meet Jonathan in person and get his autograph,
not to mention the opportunity to see him perform. But his absense
definitely did not distract from the fun of the other Fest I went to,
and the events have certainly survived and thrived during the years that
Jonathan did not attend.

Realy, I think at least half the fun is the fans getting together and
bonding over our shared love of DS, and as long as there are still
several key cast members still attending, people will still come, and
have a great time.

Just my two cents... :)

Ok so just how much bonding is there at these conventions? Share
lunch, war stories etc? Keep in contact after the convention? Just
wondering how friendly people are toward one another
