Just heard the stunning news that ABC is cancelling both All My Children
and One Life To Live, both former DS soap-mates on ABC. Only General
Hospital will remain on the network.

Oberon: I remember getting home from school (back in '68 or so) just
in time to see the end credits for one of those

before Dark Shadows began

I seem to recall DS and OLTL, both half-hour shows at that time, running
back-to-back in the afternoon (don't remember which was first). My
memory is of the OLTL title with flames behind it...

I still watch OLTL, and GH, and can't believe GH is going to be the only
remaining ABC soap, with only four daytime dramas remaining in total,
from what I read (I guess that would be Young and the Restless, Bold and
the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives and GH?).

Soaps maintain fiercely devoted long-term fans (as evidenced by this
group!), and unlike any other medium, have the luxury of years - and
often decades - to create wonderfully rich characters, storylines and
relationship/family dynamics. Sad to see two more classic, beloved
shows go....

There is a massive attempt to stop this from happening. At least as
far a OLTL is concerned.
Also- Hoover has made a bold move to pull ALL ads from ABC over this
cancelation. Hershey's is thinking of doing the same.
Right on, Hoover! Ballsy!
Robin Strasser (Dorian) has created a new Twitter account and she is
being VERY vocal about it and in rallying the troops, so to speak. A
Call to arms...
There is hope... small.. but there.

I heard about Hoover. Apparently, the CEO's mother is a fan of the show.
Good for them, though.

Hershey's Facebook page is flooded with requests for them to pull
their ads from ABC as Hoover did. Someone there pointed out they need
10,000 phone calls to consider pulling their ads. I made my call. Took
less than five minutesif even that. The rep i spoke to was very nice.
Felt good to be heard. Here is their number- this is more effective
than online petitions. 1-800-468-1714
Thank you.
Cheers!

Well, at least Susan Lucci has her Emmy.
