There's a message at the top of my screen that old Google Groups is
going away. Has anybody switched? Can you still search old Usenet
posts easily? Will the new interface have skulls on sticks lurking if
we change over? Maybe construction paper bats waiting to attack as
soon as we switch? Just curious ...

All my friends who use GoogleGroups say it's getting worse and worse.
You should get a real newsreader program (there are good free ones - I
use SeaMonkey from Mozilla) and sign up for a real USENET news provider,
like http://www.eternal-september.org/.

Thank you. I used to use news.individual.net but I read Usenet so
seldom now that I've just been checking in through Google.

I'll probably check out a different newsreader, though, because I
don't really want Usenet being linked to my email through Google.
