The more I hear about the new movie (horror/comedy, Johnny Depp's
Barnabas = Michael Jackson) the more trepadation I have about this
movie. It has disaster written all over it.

Personally i'm hoping this movie never gets a distributor.

You know...Depp and Burton, who are TRUE DS fans, aren't going to
destroy its heritage by making some DS-version of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.
Unless I'm totally wrong, I think they'll keep it real, and perhaps
throw in some humor for spice.

I can't believe ANY real fan of DS would throw in enough humor to
qualify a remake as ANY sort of "comedy"

Totally agree with you, Vince. Their genuine love and respect for DS is
going to keep it true to the spirit of the original. And I highly doubt
Frid, Selby, Parker and KLS would be involved with the project if they
felt it was treating the material less than respectfully.

Except when I see that picture of Depp it screams out to me disrespect
for the fans, Dark Shadows, and the legacy that is Dark Shadows..

Having read a bit more, I think I see where the comedy will come in at:
Barnabas' first integration with thw world of 1972 vs 1795.

But where would the comed come in? He returns to 1972 where he
was previously.

We never saw Barnabas past 1970.
This is a new story anyway.

Well, yes we did see Jonathan Frid in April '71, but he was playing
Bramwell then, not Barnabas.
