Nosferatu Shadows

The sequence of Barnabas rising from his coffin as if on a hinge reminded me of a similar sequence in the silent film Nosferatu. Perhaps it inspired Tim Burton:

Any horror fan is familiar with that scene, so I'm sure Burton had it in
mind. I also thought it nicely addressed the problem they had in the
original series with Barnabas exiting his coffin. Some of you may recall
that they couldn't come up with a way to do it that wasn't just awkward,
so it was never shown.
