Forget it. They're taking them down as fast as they go up.

Suffice to say, it's horrible.

Which is probably why they're taking them down. They didn't seem to mind
the explosion of pirated 'Hunger Games' trailers when that one first
leaked out, because people were (and are) jacked to see it.

The "Alice in Wonderland" trailer got yanked because it was premiering
at one of the Comic-Cons. So it got leaked the day before and was
almost immediately taken down.

I saw the trailer... i think we could do much worse. But then i know
many of the die-hards are going to hate it no matter what. This from a
die-hard fan myself. I think it looks fun.
Is it the original? NO! No one ever thought it could be.
Will i see it anyway? YES!

It's probably because "Ellen" has the exclusive so they're waiting
until it airs everywhere. There's supposed to be an official trailer
later today.

I have no opinion of the TV show. As far as the trailer goes, a comedy
about a guy adjusting to the 1970s wasn't what I was expecting. But
Johnny Depp has a strong comic delivery and makes it work so between
that and Tim Burton's visuals providing something to look at the movie
should be worth seeing.

Just saw the trailer on Ellen. I LOVED it! The look of it, as I knew
it would be under Burton's watch, was absolutely stunning and gorgeous.
The serious parts look truly heartwrenching, and the comedic touches
were perfect! The TV bit was hilarious, and I loved that line at the
end: "Are you stoned?" "They tried stoning me once... it didn't work"
ROFL!

And the Blue Whale as a disco? Perfect! (Nice little homage to Love At
First Bite?)

I'm very happy with what I saw!

They showed it on Ellen, and AFAIK you can officially download it this
evening. Why the Hell they're spending a ton of time today getting it

Interesting.

I'd point out that often these trailers are made before most of the
film is made. Much of what is in the trailer may not make into the
movie. It looks good so far. it seems to have humor
without making a mokery of the original.

Oberon: I'll certainly go and see it, but I'm disappointed I guess.
I wanted something less comedic. Don't get me wrong, the casting, the
design, costumes, makeup etc, - is very good, high quality.

I think to me, it will be a good movie - its just not the movie I
was expecting.

I may or may not be like a lot of you - I don't see myself as a
certain level - high - of fan worship/whatever, over various
projects. We hear all the flamers who take down the Star Wars prequel
films, or the Twilight films or whatever films that don't have
perfection.

I don't demand perfection of very many things, and I don't let
single issues destroy some... canon, or something.

I love the Avengers comic book, but I'm not getting bent that they
do basically have it all wrong, its the movie version of the Avengers
- not the comic book version.
And I suppose I feel that way with almost all movies - that they
don't have to be 200% perfect to be liked. Not every CGI shot has to
have some high geek technical perfection for me.
But I guess Dark Shadows is different for me and though I believe I
could accept less than some brilliant wonderment - maybe I'm fooling
myself, I can't.

I'm not alone, my 29 year old son and wife agree with me and feel it
may be a fun movie, a good movie, but feel let down that it doesn't
seem really like Dark Shadows

I like what I see so far. Has the right amount of comedy without it
being a comedy.

My big fear when I heard Tim Burton was making Dark Shadows is that
the movie would have more blood than The Shining, more killing than
100 episodes of Criminal Minds, and be extremely violent.

One thing to keep in mind with Dark Shadows is the original series had
a budget of exactly $zero while the movie probably has a budget in the
$150 million neighborhood.

Also movie technology advances too, the technology is light years
ahead of what they had the 1960s.

Remember the original Dark Shadows budget was so little they had
stage hands sitting for dead characters so they didn't have to pay an
actor for an additional day.

Yeah, that too was my one and only real fear about Burton directing,
that he would go beyond the tolerable violence of Sleepy Hollow and into
Sweeney Todd-level graphicness, which totally spoiled that film for me.
Disappointing, because I enjoyed it otherwise.

In an interview with Horror Hound magazine, Burton is asked if he's
going to play up the horror/gore aspects of the story. He doesn't
respond to that directly, but says that he tried not to rely too much on
special effects and rather chose to focus on the family aspects of the
story.

Well said, Oberon!
I would remind everyone that we have only seen 2 minutes of footage from
the movie, and that's only the bits that the marketing department
thought would help sell the movie to a modern audience. In Burton's
Horror Hound interview, he says that he tried to keep to the tone of the
original series, and does not describe it as a comedy. It's entirely
possible that we have seen all of the comedy scenes in the movie. For
instance, if you watch the trailer for "Dale and Tucker vs Evil," you
see pretty much all of the funny scenes in the film (and this one bills
itself as a comedy). While I am dismayed at the comedy aspects, I will
withhold judgement till I see the movie for myself.

I'm going to try to suspend the feeling I get from the trailer. You
guys must be right!

I've been on this board at least 10 years myself... I think. Its nice
to see some of the new traffic.
Everyone has made some great points about Depp, and also Burton's
previous projects and how that may influence this one.

It would be great if that was pretty much the extent of the humor.
I actually don't mind the possible "over the top" make up, it would
have been a more humor-oriented film that would have hurt the most.

Oberon, best always !
