I was looking at the cast for the new movie and was
wondering where is the woman who played Carolyn?
I beleive she is still alive isn't she?

Also why is Alice Cooper in the movie?

Nancy Barrett is still alive, and still doing DS. She's been receiving
very good reviews for her performance in the audio drama, "The Poisoned
Soul." I don't have any of these, myself, but they're supposed to be
pretty decent.

Because Johnny Depp wanted to jam with him?

Oberon: perhaps the original poster was wondering why Nancy didn't
make the cut for a cameo, like some of the others. I wonder that
myself; she really was one of the best actors on the show. For her
age now, she is still very nice looking, in my opinion. Etc. etc.

I can't wait to get some of the audios from Big Finish; I believe
Nancy is in several, including the one mentioned above.

I saw a list of Dark Shadows alumni who have cameos, was wondering why
she wasn't in it. And I did think she was still alive.

IMHO it's a slap in the face of fans that she isn't in it.

Also why isn't John Karlen in this?
Any other alumni who should be in this movie?

Hard to say why more DS alumni aren't in the movie. Maybe they thought
fewer, carefuly-selected cameos would make a more dramatic impact than
having a larger number that might not pack the same punch? Maybe having
too many would seem more like stunt-casting and distract from the story?
Or perhaps everyone wasn't interested/available?

I heard that the movie may be open-ended and a sequel (though not with
Depp, most likely) is possible. Perhaps other alumni would show up,
we can hope.

The audio dramas by Big Finish are pretty okay; especially if you're
looking for Willie as played by John Karlen. David Selby's reprisal
of Quentin is not bad either. Etc. everyone else, pretty much.

The nice thing about DS is that there are several fairly self-contained
storylines that could be made into movies.

If they do a second one, I'd love to see them bring in Quentin.

What Maroon decided David Selby should not be in the movie?
I'd have to think after Frid he would be the most
critical alumni to be included.

He is! Chill.
Selby, Parker, Frid and Leigh-Scott are involved.
There is also unconfirmed rumors of Warner Bros. wanting to make DS
it's new franchise of movies- so as Oberon says, perhaps we'll see
more original cast members in future films. I'm puzzled as to why no
Maggie? She was there from episode 1. But still i'm excited for the
movie.

Oberon: Just me, but if they did a sequel, or franchise, they should

move to the present era - than you could possibly have Barrett or
other cast members, play their original role. Carolyn is all grown up
and now the Mistress of Collinwood.

Barnabas (Depp) is still young as he was in the first movie. Would be
a neat effect in my opinion.

Now this wouldn't work for Selby, since he too, is immortal and
doesn't age. Unless they wanted to have a plot based reason, why he
is now growing older.

Just a thought...

But if they intend to do a franchise at all, they should bring it to
the more current era, I think. And move beyond Barnabas' main
storyline to have others or new ones altogether.

Wether they do a sequel depends on the Box Office.

The studio is looking to make 85% of the gross in the first week.
There is no gross cost listed yet but i'd bet it would be in the
$150 million dollar range.

Bear in mind if they do a sequel there is the possibility that it
won't be with Depp/Burton/etc. And it may suck big time.

The other thing to consider is what do you do for a storyline
that won't tick off die Hard Dark Shadows fans. In that respect
there are limits to what they can do.

Well, of course... this one may "suck big time", quite frankly

and....

Most fans, in my opinion, have been waiting for more than a rehash of
the same old plots.

Most fans would like a continuation of the story (hence my thoughts
about a new mistress, etc.)
