Well, as I mentioned before, I got the two compilation DVDs - The
Vampire Curse and Haunting of Collinwood - for Christmas. I've already
watched The Vampire Curse, and as promised, here's my little review of
it.
The DVD is a compilation of scenes, edited together to tell the story of
Barnabas' vampire curse, starting at Josette's arrival at Collinwood,
through to Barnabas being chained in his coffin, and ending with the
first scenes of Barnabas arriving in present-day Collinwood, released
from his coffin by Willie and introducing himself to Elizabeth.
It spans the storyline in about 3-1/2 hours, focusing on the
Barnabas/Josette/Angelique triangle and the vampire curse, ignoring the
other storylines of 1795. There's also a bonus complete episode, a
Jonathan Frid interview, and a KLS DS promo.
I think the DVD is an excellent overview of this storyline, and is a
fun, streamlined way to watch the highlights when you don't have the
time to watch dozens and dozens of complete episodes. The scenes mostly
seemed to flow fairly seamlessly, and didn't seem jarring or haphazard
in the editing.
I'd recommend it, especially if you, like me, are a fan of the 1795 era.
I'll report back when I've watched the Quentin-based DVD, Haunting of
Collinwood.
