WInd River,
Many years back, you posted a link to a site to order a Zelda
ocarina. My children were very into Nintendo and Zelda (still are!),
so, thanks to you, Santa put an ocarina in each child's stocking that
Christmas. Both enjoyed it, but my daughter really took to it, soon
playing all the songs in the accompanying Zelda songbook. When she
entered fifth grade and had a chance to take band, she chose to play
flute, because it "is the most like an ocarina."

She's about to graduate from high school now. Two years ago, she
started playing piccolo, because "it is even more like an ocarina."
This year, she qualified for district honors band as one of two
piccolo players selected. She has been offered music scholarships
(for participation, since she doesn't plan to major in music, but does
plan to stay involved) from two colleges and chose the one where the
second-in-command music professor is a flute/piccolo specialist.

So, thank you. Your post has had a tremendous impact!

That's wonderful, Deb.

This is timely, too. My son's ocarina was missing for a couple of
years, and we found it this past week in an unpacked box.

Thank you for posting this. It's really uplifting. :)

replace it.)
