A good review!

Yes, I loved this review, too! I ran out on Friday and picked up the SF
Chronicle, another Northern California newspaper, and USA Today, for the
reviews. All three were quite positive. USA Today also had a nice
companion artlcie about the longtime Depp/Burton collaboration and
friendship.

I also read several online reviews. Many were positive, others weren't,
but I noticed that most of the negative ones pointed to aspects that
they didn't like, but I did. Plus, there were some reviews that said
the comedy overshadowed the horror/drama, while others said the exact
opposite, that it should have gone totally comedic. I think the
combination is in perfect balance, and each part complements the other,
rather than distracting.

I think there is plenty of room for a really good sequel there.
And much of it would be just as with the show. Roger could come back
with "Cassandra" in tow.. and well, you know about Dr. Hoffman so i
won't spoil anything for folks who have not seen it. Not to mention
Laura Collins.
Plenty to work with, as you well know.

I usually wait for dvd or Blu Ray for that exact reason.

AVP shlock.

Or maybe October? Believe me, I'm all about sooner rather than later,
but it would be a perfect Halloween-time release, plus they could use
the line from the movie, where Barnabas asks Willie what month it is,
and he says "October" in the commercials. Kind of like in the recent
spots where they used the clip of Barnabas asking "What year?" and the
announcer says, "this year." and then he says "What month?" and the
announcer says "this month." :)

I'd bet on September. The drop off of sales at the theater
is steep and fast, and the crush of new movies will
push older movies like Dark Shadows out. Which will
lead to a dvd release in September. Come September the

Yes, it's already been released, but
perhaps you missed the end Diva's final

Not having previous releases, I would
assume this feature wasn't included,
and thus explains her excitement.

It was released before with the original ending included as an extra,
but not for forg. The original DVD release did include it, but
due to legal issues over the right to use that footage, copies were
almost immediately yanked from store shelves, and they released another
version of the DVD without that footage.

Those now rare and highly sought after original discs were being sold on
eBay and elsewhere for well over $100 by those lucky few who were able
to snatch a copy before they were gone. But now, apparently it looks as
if they've worked out the issues surrounding that footage and it will
now be available.

For those who don't know, the movie with the original ending was
screened for test audiences, and their reaction to the much more tragic,
darker ending (true to the original stage production) was highly
negative, so they re-shot a happier, more upbeat ending.

I personally think the happy ending fits. As someone once said, in a
stage production, the characters can die, but then the actors come out
for a bow, alive and well, but in a movie they don't, and cinema gives
you the closeups and expressions that make the characters seem more
personal and real, and it makes a sad ending much more so.

I had the opportunity to see the original ending, and it is quite
interesting and elaborately staged, and yes, deeply tragic and
heartwrenching. It was very cool to see the direction they took in the
first place.

Yes, "Prometheus" is a prequel. There are plenty of images in the
trailer to give you that notion. A shot of the "Space Jockey". the U
shaped ship.. the little Sci Fi "Squee" noise used in the very first
traiers for "Alien". Yep... oh and Ridley Scot directing to top it
off. Looks awesome!

Ridley Scott has repeatedly denied that it's a prequel, but most of us
are calling bullshit. As noted, it features Weyland, the original alien
space ship and the space jockey, and it takes place before "Alien."
Ergo: it's a prequel.

How does Ms. Weaver's absence prevent "Prometheus" from being a prequel?
It takes place in the same universe, at a time before that in which
"Alien" takes place, and features at least 1 character in common with
"Alien." That sounds like a prequel to me. That would be like saying the
"Star Wars" prequels weren't prequels because they didn't feature the
original stars.

Richard O'Brien always insisted that his follow-up to Rocky Horror,
Shock Treatment, was "not a prequel, not a sequel, but an equal."

But it takes place in the same location (Denton) after the events of
Rocky Horror, and features Brad, Janet and other characters from the
original film (plus several Rocky Horror actors playing new roles). And
it's a musical, too.

With all due respect to Mr. O'Brien, that certainly makes it a sequel.

in the DVD marketplace. Espeically where in this part of the US of A
movie tickets are in the $12.00 neighborhood while the DVD can
be purchased for $7 or $8.
So if you've got four or five kids it's a lot cheaper to
buy he DVD and watch it at home on your 72" home
theater system then drag those kids to the movie,
get them popcorn, etc.
