I sometimes watch this Saturday night show. It has some announcers
like WolfMan Mac and his pack. Some of the movies I really enjoy,
such as the one about the Romanian witch a few weeks ago. Does anyone
else watch this series?

Never heard of it. What network/channel is it on?

I checked out the website. It looks pretty interesting, but it's not
playing on any local station in my area. I like to watch Elvira and
used to enjoy MST3K, and this appears to be a similar concept, so I
might check it out if the opportunity arises.

It was on in the Detroit area - in fact I believe I heard that it
originates from here, but not really sure. It was on for a couple of
years, but seems to have lost its station (the station changed formats
and programming)

For what its worth, I didn't think it was very clever, original or
good. The friends of Mac (the pack) seemed like his entourage of
friends who he "gave" the gig to. Therefore, probably too much
production overhead, and thus the reason why it got cancelled.

I really didn't think very much of it, but the cheesy old time movies
were pretty cool.

Wolfman Mac's Chiller Drive-In and Elvira's new Movie Macabre are on
RTV and THIS-TV, respectively, which are both little networks that
typically run on the "sideband" frequencies available to local network
affiliates since the digital changeover.

I like Chiller. It's cheezy and amateurish, for sure, but no more
than the public domain flicks that are the only things they can
generally afford to run these days (same for Elvira, btw, now that the
rights to most film libraries are tied up by a few media megacorpos).
The crew are obviously just a sincere bunch of horrorhosting fans on a
shoestring budget, but as such they're still true to the vibe. And
how many horror hosts are there still around actually working the
airwaves (rather than online)?

I used to get RTV on my cable back in Atlanta, and they had a horror
show like this, but it had a different name. It seems like there was a
family of ghouls, or maybe vampires, who were the hosts. It was super
low budget and silly, but still kinda fun. AT&T in Muncie doesn't carry
RTV, so I haven't seen it in more than a year.

I like to watch Elvira
A couple of years ago, they had a reality show about finding the next
Elvira, which I thought was crazy, as Cassandra Peterson really made
that character her own and is basically irreplaceable. Never heard
anything about the winner after that show was over...

I love MST3K! Have you checked out their RiffTrax DVDs? The same guys
are doing almost the same thing with other movies, but just their voices
in the background, no shadows of them in the theatre or comedy sketches
in between scenes. They also have expanded into more current films by
making vocal tracks of their commentary, which somehow you sync with
your own DVD of the movie, avoiding the legal issues by not offering the
movie itself. Haven't tried those but they sound fun - would love to
check out their take on "Twilight"!
