..RIP Richard Dawson.

Not DS-related, but I was deeply saddened by the news today of his
passing, especially so soon after Jonathan, as I was a huge fan of both
men, and both gave me so many hours of entertainment and joy over the
years.

I grew up loving Richard on Hogan's Heroes as the cheeky Newkirk, but it
was Family Feud that made me a lifeitme fan. His warmth,
gentlemanliness and dry British wit endeared him to his audience
(couldn't you see him totally playing Roger Collins?). I always felt
that winning money on Feud was just a bonus... the real prize was that
kiss from Richard <g>

Of course, he was also the sharp, witty and mindblowingly clever
panelist on Match Game. I always felt like the smartest girl in the
world when I matched his answer!

And his most famous big-screen role as the game show host from hell,
Damon Killian, in Running Man, was tailor-made for him to play off of
his gregarious Feud image, with a deliciously wicked twist, of course.

Thanks for indulging my reminiscing :)

I was not a fan of "Family Feud," (I haven't watched a game show since I
was a kid), but I fondly remember him on "Hogan's Heroes." I believe his
was the first English accent I ever heard (or was, at least, aware of)
when I was a child.

This is where I best remember him. For awhile, I would come home for lunch from school to watch The Match Game. Now I look back in bewilderment at how I could have liked games shows that much, but I did, and Match Game was my favorite.

It would hvve been so funny in the DS movie for Barnabas to walk in and
catch Match Game '72 on the television.

and when did these poor creatures lose their ability to speak? How
tragic indeed..." <g>

And then you would all complain there was too much comedy in the movie.

That one additional bit would not have changed the overall ratio of
comedy to horror by much. And though I ended up enjoying the movie, I
would have enjoyed it more without the comedy.

In fact, can anyone point out a single instance of intentional comedy in
the original series? I can't think of any. Well, maybe Magda.
