Just got the new EW magazine, and it has a terrific cover story about
the movie.
Depp is, of course, in full Barnabas regalia on the cover (his cape is
actually dark green rather than black!), and inside there are three
alternate covers, featuring Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green and HBC (at
least in my subscription copy).
The article is very nice, and they mention Jonathan Frid's passing as
well, with lovely comments from Depp. There's also a sidebar about the
series box set, and an accompanying article about Alice Cooper's various
movie roles.
I'm sure there will be some other good coverage in other magazines this
coming week, and talk show appearances by the cast as well.
In ABC: Soaps In Depth, they had an article about varous eerie
storylines on the soaps over the years, in honor of the DS movie, and
they had a sidebar featuring KLS and her Return To Collinwood book. She
addressed fans' concerns about the comedic tone of the trailers and
stated rreassuringly that it is true to the original. Frankly,
especially since there's only one ABC soap left (General Hospital) and
they've gone to filling space with more coverage of the other network's
soaps, I'm disappointed they haven't given the new movie more attention
than they have.
I had to laugh when KLS basically said that since Depp wore his hair the
same way as Frid did, it had to be
a faithful adaptation! Even I, who am nothing short of thrilled and
excited to see the film, had to roll my eyes a bit over that logic <g.
Oh, and I see Amazon finally has a price set for that Art Of The Film
book. Over $50... ummm, think I'll have to pass until the price goes
down, or used copies hit the market. Anyone know of any other books,
etc. coming out? All I'm aware of so far is the Return To Collinwood
book, that Art Of The Film book, and the soundtrack.
Oh, anyone know if theatres are going to do midnight shows? Seems like
a perfect movie for it...
